I think my side still hurts from laughing last night. For the first time, state side, McMorris and McMorris premiered. Featuring an inside look into two of my absolute favorite riders, the show was originally on MTV Canada. After both brothers have become so well known, many in America were not able to access the show through MTV Canada's website and pleaded for the show to be viewable in the USA. This also includes me haha. After waiting, Fusion network finally decided it was time for the show to be able to be seen by all, and premiered it last night at 9:30PM. I was absolutely thrilled when I heard the news and started counting down the hours until I could see the greatest dynamic duo on my tv screen.
Mark & Craig McMorris
Even though the season is old, and is from 2013, it's still so fun to watch these guys in action. Of course when it comes time to focus and compete, both Craig and Mark turn their serious faces on. But when they are just hanging out with friends and have some down time, they are total free spirits. They try to have as much fun possible for as long as they can. As Craig says in the opening credits, "We're not going to be this young, healthy and incredibly good looking forever, so you gotta carpe yolo. Ya know carpe diem, but you only live once" It's little things like that, that show the character of these guys and have you laughing from start to finish.
In this episode we get introduced to the brothers, but at this point in their careers, neither really needs much of an introduction. The show starts with brothers back home in Regina, hanging with friends and trying to make the most of their flat homeland. Regina, is one of the flattest regions in Canada, so many would be surprised to hear two pro snowboarders are from there. It's their last night home for a while, so the two guys want to go out with a bang. They end up getting their friends to build a skating rink outside, something that seem totally normal to Canadian natives, and host a hockey/skating party. People show up in party buses and it honestly looks like a great time. For the both of them, it seems that as long as you're surrounded by your friends, it doesn't matter what you're doing.
The next day, the brothers and Adam Burwell, who is basically the guys manager, head out to Aspen for the 2013 X Games. Already knowing the results of the competition, its awesome to see what the guys do when they're just hanging out. Craig, who I'm just gunna throw out there, is the funniest and most entertaining person to watch, comes up with the idea to pick up his friends who are flying in from Canada to join the brothers for the week, on a mini bike. Obviously theres no way this bike is going to fit Craig and his four friends, but seeing him riding on main roads and pulling up to the airport on this thing is downright hysterical. My mom actually came into my room and asked what the hell I was laughing to hard about. I couldn't help myself, these guys are great.
The episode ended with the highlight from Mark's X Game run, with him commenting on what he was thinking that day. That year Mark finished first with the gold, and scored the highest run in men's slope style history. Just a preview of what was to come for Mark. I'm not sure if he watched the episode last night, but to look back on how much has happened to him since then, and how much he has been able to conquer and achieve is incredible.
In case I haven't convinced you enough to watch this hilarious, entertaining show, here is a clip for season one of McMorris & McMorris:
I already can't wait for next week's episode!
Keep Shredding :P
